Geek events in Denver for July 2017

Fresh off the vibe of Denver Comic Con, July has all kinds of geeky activities in store for adults in the Mile High City. Cocktails and learning can always be found at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Paramount Theater is hosting a Mystery Science Theater 3000 event, and “Supernatural” fans can get their quiz on just up I-25 in Fort Collins. Here are just a few of the events to add to that geek calendar.

Watch the iconic film “2001: A Space Odyssey” on a giant IMAX screen with an actual space scientist. Bring those burning questions to this unique film screening and have them answered by Steve Lee, Ph.D., space scientist. Bonus, there will be a cash bar available. Probably one of the most popular pop culture intuitions is “Mystery Science Theater 3000” and what better way to celebrate this show than watching it with other fans? Check out MSTK3000 at the famous Paramount Theater in Denver on July 18, 2017. This place has so much charm, and it is an absolutely perfect venue to get your MSTK300 viewing in. There is also an MSTie Meet Up before and after the show. The meet up is for the members of the MST3K Revival League Fan Page.

For those avid “Supernatural” fans willing to drive a bit up north on I-25, there is a fun themed trivia for a good cause. Dungeons & Drafts in Fort Collins is hosting this trivia adventure, and after the 12th season of the CW hit show, there are so many questions to be asked. The night will be hosted by a true “Supernatural” fan who will no doubt challenge the players. Donations are welcome to help the host complete as Miss Amazing in August. Hey Science Lounge fans. This month’s theme is Your Machine Inside. It will talk about living machines with the Nature’s Amazing Machines exhibit. Attendees get the chance to solve engineering challenges with insights from living machines. Get involved with hands-on fun when you invent your own machines based on how animals operate. Cocktails at a cash bar and this event is 21 and up. Tickets are only $13 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

Adults can also soak up geeky fun with their After Hours and Sci-Fi Film Series programs. Don’t forget to check out the Vikings: Beyond the Legend exhibit through August 13th.
