‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 watch party kicks off at Stoney’s

Night gathers and now our watch begins. Game of Thrones’ seventh season starts on Sunday, July 16 on HBO. If you don’t have HBO at home, or lost your friend’s HBO Go password, you can join the faithful at Stoney’s Bar and Grill every Sunday to watch new episodes. Nerd Riot kicked off their annual watch party with a celebration last night with games, prizes, music and a recap of last season’s finale.

Local punk fan band Daenerys and the Targaryens emceed the event under the banners of House Geek (with the house motto “Ours is the nerdy”). There were games, like “The Answer is Hodor” (yes, it’s as easy as it sounds), trivia, and a spelling contest (hey, can you spell Tyrion after a couple of beers? I didn’t think so). Daenerys and the Targaryens jammed with songs about our favorite characters.

And you can expect a lot of the same revelry every week. There’s a death poll, where you can bet on the next big character to die that episode. Submit your best GoT joke. Cosplayers, bring your best look. The big prize of the night is to watch the show from The Iron Couch with a full goblet and crown. Then it’s time to fill your cups, shut up and watch the show. (Chants of “The King in the North!” and cheers are acceptable.)

Declare your house allegiances, and get ready to join in at 7 P.M. every Sunday evening at Stoney’s. Be sure to get there early. It’s a big bar, but the watch party half of the bar fills up fast. Valar morghulis, friends!
