Breckenridge Brewery announces their special con beer for Denver Comic Con 2016. In honor of actor Alan Richman who recently lost his battle with cancer, the tasty new brew is called “Snape-ricot” after his beloved character of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. According to Denver Comic Con director Christina Angel, “this year’s brew takes on a special significance as a tribute to Alan Rickman, who so masterfully brought Snape to life on the silver screen.” Since the first convention in 2012, this Denver area brewery has teamed up with Denver Comic Con to bring a special beer for the occasion.
The “Name the Comic Con Beer” contest was won by Noah Eisenman and Greg Nuccio, and this refreshingly crisp apricot lager will make its first appearance this week. This beer release party will be held at Stoney’s Bar and Grill on Friday, May 20, at 7:30 PM. Pop culture and beer fans might want to get in line early because the first 200 people to order a “Snape-ricot” will be given a limited edition pint glass featuring the beer’s custom label artwork. This event will also offer the chance to meet the artist, Frankie Serna, and rock out to live music by Gin Doctors 90’s Cover Band and Red 5. Breckenridge Brewery began in the classic ski town of Breckenridge, CO in 1990. It started as a cozy brewpub and has now grown into a one of the largest breweries in the U.S.
Just like our favorite character Professor Snape, this cool new brew is more complex than the world would guess according to Ryan Workman, Breckenridge Brewery Brand Manager. It is “pale and crisp, but spend a little time with it, and you’ll find unexpected layers of interesting personality.” The beer and pint glasses will also be available at this year’s annual pop culture event of the year, Denver Comic Con June 17-19, 2016 at the Colorado Convention Center. Stan Lee (Marvel Comics), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Ralph Macchio (the Karate Kid), and so many more big stars will be at the fifth annual event that raises money and awareness for Pop Culture Classroom.
